For rt2x00, we are probably close except that beaconing isn't working on the rt73usb-based modules we're testing. We have a discussion going with the rt2x00 folks. Currently plain AP mode isn't working because of the beaconing issue.

For iwlwifi, there's an incomplete and outdated patch that could be cleaned up and rebased for the current state of the driver. Some of the iwl3945 and iwl4965 pieces have been moved to the iwl 'core', etc.

A quick status update:

  • rt2x00: beaconing still isn't working. To clarify the previous post, plain AP is usable but it won't beacon (you can see probe REQ/RES and associate). The rt2x00 folks are looking in to the issue.
  • ath5k has working AP mode, I submitted a patch that adds mesh beacons. This seems to work (tested on PCI card) but needs more testing with more Atheros hardware, I suspect.
  • the Zydas mesh support made it to 2.6.26, but it's affected by #28
  • Johannes' b43 mesh support patch is not in 2.6.26 but it's in wireless-testing and b43 seems to work well.
  • no change on iwlwifi at the moment, as far as I know
